Hurricane Ian

Practical Tips

South Florida Counties in addition to the west coast of Florida were affected by Hurricane Ian. You may have suffered flooding, damage to your home from tornadoes or other catastrophic damage from being in the path of Hurricane Ian.   

  • Submit your claim early. There are thousands of affected Floridians who will be submitting claims to the insurance companies. 
  • Locate your insurance policies if possible and know your deductible.  
  • Do not rely only on the estimates provided by the Insurance company, speak with an attorney who will assist you protect your bottom line.  
  • Know that standard insurance policies do not cover flood damage.  
  • Try as best as possible to mitigate your damage, so if possible, do minor repairs that will preserve the integrity of your property.  
  • Know your deductible. 
  • Protect your mental health, although easier said than done, call to speak with a mental health counselor if you are overwhelmed and life is difficult to manage.
